Minor in Finance
The objective of the finance minor is to offer the opportunity for those majoring in other areas to gain knowledge and skills related to finance and finance-related areas. The minor is structured for maximum flexibility to allow students to focus on one of the areas such as corporate finance, investments, financial institution management, real estate, insurance or multinational finance. That is, a student may choose to cluster their choice of courses or select from a range of course areas to gain a broader knowledge of the finance area and its applications.
For example, a student interested in insurance might choose to take three insurance courses and then two other finance courses. The flexibility basically allows the student to design the minor that best meets their long-run interests and career needs. The desired outcome is that the minor will serve to complement the students major and enhance their career opportunities.
Note : A 2.2 Cumulative GPA is required for enrollment in any Business Course at the 3000-level or above. This rule applies to both Business and non-Business students.
The Finance minor does not include any courses from other departments. However, beyond the introductory courses, several classes do carry additional prerequisites.
