Why Does Auburn's College of Business Need Private Support?

Tuition and state funding provide less than half of the money needed to operate the College of Business. Private support such as charitable giving by alumni, students, parents, corporations and foundations joins investment income to provide the dollars needed to run each and every year. The Senior Giving strives to get students in the habit of giving back to the university we love.

The College of Business relies heavily on private gifts to maintain the quality of our academic programs, services offered to students. The College of Business would not be the institution it is today - ranked 29th in the nation among public institutions - if it wasn't for private annual gifts.

What is Senior Giving?

Each year, Executive Society students work hand in hand with the Office of Advancement to create a business student-centered giving campaign. Seniors are encouraged to give during their senior year to the class campaign and, by doing so, are made aware of the institution's needs for private giving. It is the advancement office's intent to educate seniors on the importance of annual giving and, by making their first experience positive and meaningful through Senior Giving campaign, establish a pattern of future giving.

"I'm already paying money to the university in tuition."

Tuition covers only a portion of what it costs to run the university, so gifts from private sources are essential. YOU have benefited from gifts made by alumni and students who graduated before you. The business senior giving program began at College of Business in 2006. These gifts have made a difference in a business students life.

"Where will my money go?"

Gifts are made to a scholarship fund and each year a deserving business student is awarded the Senior Giving scholarship.

"How do I make a gift?"

Giving is simple, and there are many options:

• You can give today online.
• Visit the Senior Class Gift table on the Ground Floor on March 31st through April 29th, 2008 in the Lowder Business Building.
• Come by Room #130 in Lowder from 9:00am - 4:00pm Monday through Friday and pick up a form and your senior giving t-shirt.
• You can pay by credit card, cash, or check, made payable to Auburn University Foundation, with "Senior Class Gift" in the Notes area of your check.
