(proposed date: Summer 2007)

GENERAL INFORMATION:
In the summer of 2007, Auburn students will have an opportunity to learn about the US’s largest trading partner by participating in a new international program offered by the College of Business.  Course offerings will include International Economics (ECON4300) and Financial Markets and Institutions (FINC3700)/Money and Banking (ECON3200), tailored to focus on the unique trade relationship between the U.S. and Canada.

The program includes a four week-stay at the Ryerson University campus in downtown Toronto.  Toronto is the heart of Canada’s business financial center.  Excursions to the Toronto Stock Exchange, Canadian financial institutions, and Canadian corporations such as Molson breweries, Roots, and Ontario Hydro will give students a perspective of how Canada has struggled with the free trade movement while trying to maintain its own identity and culture, distinct from that of the United States.

With a population of 4.7 million people, Toronto is North America’s fifth largest city and home to more than 100 cultures.  Visitors may enjoy the many world cuisines, theatre, nightclubs, and shopping in this clean and peaceful city.  Unique attractions include the CN Tower, the waterfront beauty of Centre Island and Harbourfront, and historic Fort York.  The month of June is an especially exciting time to visit the city as it hosts the International Dragon Boat Race Festival, Worldwide Short Film Festival, and Toronto’s Downtown Jazz Festival.

Open to all students having the necessary prerequisites to enroll in the courses offered.
